Our charitable support
We are interested in hearing from charities to consider as potential beneficiaries of The Good Works Company. We work with our clients to establish their philanthropic interests; if you meet the criteria below we welcome you to send information for us to review.
Criteria
As a grant-funding Foundation there are strict criteria for considering potential beneficiaries:
Applicants must be registered charities; there is no geographical preference but applicants must be a recognised charity in the country which they are headquartered
Applicants must share the most recent copy of their annual accounts
Applicants must submit a budget alongside applications outlining where the grant would be spent if their application were to be successful
Applicants must agree to be willing to speak either in person or via telephone to a member of The Good Works Company to answer questions on the project
Applicants must be able and willing to demonstrate grant monitoring, including impact reporting and provide regular project reports
Applicants must be willing to facilitate a visit to view the project where possible
If your project or charity works with vulnerable people, you must be able to provide a safeguarding policy
Applicants must provide an initial proposal for funding which can be no more than three pages, excluding the information above
Applicants must be willing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding committing the charity to spending a successful grant within the agreed project limits, and informing The Good Works Company in good time if this is no longer possible
FAQ
Do you fund restricted projects only, or do you also support general funds?
Many donors tend to prefer restricted projects for funding considerations rather than general funding; if you are applying for general funds please outline this and explain why.
Do you have any criteria regarding my charity's finances?
A strong preference will be given to charities which are financially sound, who don't have excessive reserves, generally considered as more than six months running costs. When you apply please provide a short statement on the financial stability, reserve levels, running costs and reserves policy of your charity.
My charity is struggling financially; can we still apply?
Some donors may prefer to fund charities who struggle to raise general funds or are struggling financially; if you are such a charity please outline this in your application and state how this funding will change the long-term sustainability of your organisation.
